Review: Chequered Red – New Single: Try – Released Date: TBCOctober 19, 2019
Chequered Red are a punk rock alternative band from Worthing, West Sussex. Formed in January 2018 these guys have been gigging locally at Bar 42, St Pauls, The Komedia and Green Door Store to name a few.
A great band live, full of energy and passion for their music. With 2 front singers they stand out from the crowd and a funky undertone to their tracks adds dance appeal. Mix this with the electronica and rock driven drums and it’s a winning combination.
Chequered Reds new single Try is to be released as a charity fundraiser for Mental Health. Its fantastic to see grass roots bands supporting causes with their music, highlighting and supporting the concerns young people have.
Try is a gem of a track. Opening with a lone indie funk fused guitar, joined by gentle vocals that glide into the chords and blend beautifully. Touching heart felt lyrics and harmonising vocals with a back drumbeat that moves the track into a faster harder sound. There are so many layers. Stunning vocals, an awesome funky guitar, a gelled bass and drum partnership and keys that change the mood and emotion of the track. It’s a carousel of music and emotion. Fantastic.
You will need to check out Chequered Red’s social for the release date and future gigs.
